Islamabad (Turkiye Khabar) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the end of previous austerity measures implemented for energy conservation. According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, some restrictions related to fuel conservation at the government level have been withdrawn.
Under the new order, the measure of a Friday holiday for government employees has been abolished, while officers have been allowed full petrol facilities and the reuse of 60 percent of government vehicles.
However, restrictions regarding the timings of commercial centers and business activities will remain in place.
According to the notification, shops, markets and shopping malls will have to close by 9 PM, while wedding halls will have to end events by 10 PM.
Restaurants and cafes will close by 11 PM, however, home delivery and food packing facilities will be exempt from this restriction.
Pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories, bakeries, milk shops and tandoors will be free from timing restrictions, while petrol pumps, CNG stations, electric vehicle charging centers, gyms, sports clubs, IT companies and call centers will continue their operations as usual.
According to the government, other austerity measures implemented before March 9, 2026 will remain in force.
