Washington: The United States has announced plans to deploy an additional 5,000 troops to the Middle East report by The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Department of Defense decided to send thousands of Marines and Navy personnel to the region following a request from U.S. Central Command.
The report states that this move comes amid rising tensions in the region, particularly after attacks on ships and the laying of naval mines near the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. Several warships may also be deployed alongside the newly assigned forces.
