Conference in Baku Discusses Transparency and Equality in Artificial Intelligence

BAKU (Turkiye Khabar) – A panel discussion on “Transparency, Justice, and Equality in Artificial Intelligence Systems” was held during the International Ombudsman Summit in the capital of Azerbaijan.

According to the news agency, the session was chaired by Ergun Ergül, Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Ankara Medipol University, while experts and officials from various countries participated in the discussion. These included Russia’s Human Rights Ombudsman Yana Lantratova (via video link), Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and academic expert Rasim Aliguliyev, Chair of the Administrative Justice Commission of Kenya Charles Dulo, Head of the Department of Digital Development and Innovation at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Khaligov, and Deputy Ombudsman of Ukraine Mykhailo Spasov.

The panel emphasized that the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the increasing use of automated decision-making systems are creating new opportunities as well as serious challenges.

Speakers noted that AI can play an important role in improving government efficiency, expanding citizens’ access to basic services, and promoting socio-economic rights.

However, the discussion also highlighted that without proper legal and ethical frameworks, the use of artificial intelligence could pose risks to human rights, including privacy, equality, protection against discrimination, human dignity, fair administrative processes, and access to justice.

At the conclusion of the session, participants agreed that the key challenge is to ensure that artificial intelligence serves humanity, rather than forcing humans to adapt to the limitations of technology.
