FRANCE (Monitoring Desk) – This time’s G7 summit not only focused on global politics and major decisions but also featured several interesting and light-hearted moments, while open microphones brought some informal conversations into the spotlight, adding to the overall lively atmosphere.
During the meeting, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed a desire for coffee, to which the German Chancellor jokingly responded, “And a cigarette too?” Meloni smiled and replied that she had quit smoking a month ago. The exchange drew laughter from those present in the room.
Football also became part of diplomatic conversation at the summit. The Emir of Qatar playfully teased French President Emmanuel Macron over Paris Saint-Germain’s performance, to which Macron responded with a smile that he was happy because it is a French team.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump described UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed as “good-looking,” adding that when someone is very wealthy, they do not need to speak loudly.
The German Chancellor also gifted the U.S. President a German football jersey featuring the number 41, symbolically linked to the 48th President of the United States.
One of the most memorable moments of the final day came when the U.S. President entered the room and jokingly said that he was the real leader, prompting the entire hall to erupt in laughter.
Thus, the G7 summit once again showed that alongside serious global diplomacy, informal and cheerful moments can also make international gatherings more engaging.
