Washington (Monitoring Desk) During recent diplomatic activities between the United States and Iran, US President Donald Trump has expressed satisfaction over avoiding the start of another war between the two countries.
Trump said that the United States and Tehran could succeed in resolving all issues during 60-day negotiations, and there would be no need for further military actions.
Speaking at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, the US President said that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the two countries, and there is now a period of 60 days available to resolve the issues.
He said that if no progress is made within the given period, steps could be taken that Iran would not like, however, he hopes the situation will move forward in a better manner.
Diplomatic Contacts Accelerate
The United States and Iran had signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday, in which it was decided to halt fighting on different fronts and begin 60-day technical negotiations on Iran’s nuclear issue.
The talks were scheduled to begin on Friday, however, they were postponed due to regional tensions.
On the other hand, mediator countries including Pakistan and Qatar have accelerated diplomatic efforts to restart the negotiations.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani met with the Swiss Foreign Minister during his visit to Switzerland, while Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also expected to travel to Tehran.
