Turkey and Singapore Agree to Strengthen Ties, Commit to Expanding Cooperation in Multiple Sectors

Ankara (Turkiye Khabar) President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues during a meeting held in Istanbul.

According to Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Directorate, the meeting took place on Friday at the Dolmabahçe Presidential Office, where the Singaporean Prime Minister was welcomed with official protocol.

Following the ceremony, the two leaders held detailed talks at both bilateral and delegation levels.

During the meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that it is necessary to further expand cooperation between Türkiye and Singapore, adding that Ankara will work to enhance relations in various sectors, particularly defense, logistics, aviation, maritime affairs, and finance.

He also stated that Türkiye is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts for lasting peace between Iran and the United States, and places special importance on free maritime movement in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the President, Türkiye will continue to play its role in the peace process in the region together with “brotherly countries.”

The meeting was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Presidential Advisor on Foreign and Security Policy Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Bilal Erdoğan.
