Turkey and Germany Agree to Expand Economic Cooperation

Istanbul (Turkiye Khabar) The Republic of Türkiye and Germany have discussed ways to further deepen economic cooperation during a high-level meeting.

Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat shared details of the meeting on Friday.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 6th session of the Türkiye–Germany Joint Economic and Trade Commission, in which Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katharina Reiche, also participated.

During the talks, both sides reviewed opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, industrial collaboration, energy transition, green and digital transformation, transport, connectivity, and joint projects in third countries.

The two sides also discussed updating the Türkiye–European Union Customs Union, easing visa procedures, European industrial policies, and enhancing Türkiye’s role in European value chains.

According to Minister Ömer Bolat, both countries agreed that their strong economic integration is crucial for Europe’s competitiveness and strengthening global supply chains.

He added that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to elevating their long-term partnership to a higher level in line with current global needs.

According to official data, Germany is Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade volume exceeding $52 billion.

The German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy stated that the focus of the visit was the Türkiye–Germany economic and energy partnership, the Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO), and the energy forum between the two countries.
