CHARSADDA (Turkiye Khabar) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that global powers are promoting instability in the region in order to gain control over its resources and wealth. He stated that the attention of the American President is focused on the world's natural and economic resources, and that unrest has been encouraged in various regions for this purpose.
Addressing a ceremony in Charsadda, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that as long as religious scholars held leadership in the subcontinent, peace and stability prevailed in society. However, after leadership was taken away from the scholars, unrest and disorder increased.
He said that attempts were made to create sectarian divisions in the country, but Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has always resisted such tendencies. He stated that his party was treated unfairly in the general elections, and that this has now been acknowledged. He demanded that election results be issued in accordance with the public mandate; otherwise, strong protests would be staged in the assembly.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that his party played a positive role in the national interest during tensions with India and during reconciliation efforts between Iran and the United States. Criticizing the rulers, he said that ordinary citizens are deprived of basic necessities while privileges and luxuries continue in the corridors of power.
He further stated that restoring public confidence is essential to address the political and economic challenges facing the country. He emphasized that the issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan should also be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic negotiations.
