Yerevan (Turkiye Khabar) Turkey and Armenia have taken an important step toward improving bilateral relations by signing an agreement for the joint restoration of the ancient Ani Bridge.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 8th European Political Community Summit held in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, where Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz also held a meeting.
Under the agreement, special representatives from both sides signed the project for the restoration of the historic bridge, which is located on the Turkey-Armenia border.
The Turkish Vice President said in his statement that both sides discussed in detail potential cooperation in various fields, including bilateral relations, transport, customs, energy, and digital infrastructure.
He added that the Ani Bridge restoration project is a “symbolic and practical example” of cooperation that can help promote trust, stability, and lasting peace in the region.
Turkish envoy Serdar Kılıç and Armenian representative Ruben Rubinyan also signed the agreement.
Turkey has expressed its commitment to continue improving relations with Armenia to further strengthen economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts in the South Caucasus region.
