US Warns Buyers of Iranian Oil

Washington (Monitoring Desk) The United States has warned that countries purchasing oil from Iran may also face sanctions, while it has also been claimed that China may potentially limit or suspend its purchase of Iranian oil. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, while speaking to journalists at the White House, said that other countries have been informed that if they buy oil from Iran or if Iranian funds are present in their banking systems, action could also be taken against them.

He stated that a maritime blockade against Iran has already begun and the ongoing tensions have entered the seventh week. In the past, China has been a major buyer of Iranian oil; however, due to recent measures, a temporary reduction in purchases is being anticipated. The US Department of the Treasury has also warned two Chinese banks that if the transfer of Iranian funds through them is proven, they too may face sanctions.
