New York (Monitoring Desk) — Iran’s mission to the United Nations has strongly criticized the United States, saying that Washington’s unnecessary and rigid demands have pushed nuclear non-proliferation talks into deadlock and failure.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the Iranian mission claimed that the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) review conference has failed to reach any conclusion for the third consecutive time due to obstruction by the United States and its allies.
According to the statement, the United States attempted to turn the conference into a disputed debate over Iran’s nuclear program, which prevented member states from reaching consensus.
On the other hand, a US-based non-governmental organization also stated in its report that the United Nations conference ended without any final agreement, primarily due to disagreements over Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran has warned that if serious global efforts are not made toward nuclear disarmament, the non-proliferation regime could be weakened.
