Ankara (Turkiye Khabar): The submachine gun “SAR 109T” developed by Turkish arms manufacturer Sarsılmaz has officially been included in the operational inventory of the Miami-Dade County Police Department in Doral, Florida, USA.
This marks the first time a Turkish-made submachine gun has been adopted by a US law enforcement agency.
Doral, located in South Florida, is an important commercial and diplomatic hub with high security requirements, where police forces need rapid response capability and highly reliable equipment. To meet these needs, the SAR 109T was selected.
The weapon is a compact and modular 9mm submachine gun built on an AR-style platform. It features a modern recoil control system and improved buffer for accuracy during rapid operations.
Its flexible design includes a 9.8-inch barrel, an optics-compatible receiver, and a four-sided Picatinny rail system allowing easy attachment of mission equipment.
The Miami-Dade County Police Department is also reportedly testing other firearms from Sarsılmaz, including the SAR9 SOCOM Compact and SAR9 Full Size models, and is reviewing the SAR9 Gen 3 Frontline series designed for modern law enforcement needs.
Sarsılmaz Chairman Latif Aral Aliş said the partnership reflects the company’s global engineering capability and reliability, adding that adoption by major law enforcement agencies is not only a commercial success but also proof of field-tested performance and quality.
