Washington (Turkey News) The Turkish Ambassador to the United States, Sedat Önal, said that the strong Turkish community living abroad has played an important role in making Türkiye a global power whose voice is heard around the world and whose services and contributions are valued internationally.
Addressing the 43rd Turkish Day Parade, the Turkish Ambassador described the event as a traditional and symbolic festival that preserves Turkish identity and culture while also serving as a means of introducing them to American society.
Among those present at the event were the ambassador’s wife Figen Önal, Türkiye’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ahmet Yıldız and his wife Emine Yıldız, as well as the Consul General of Türkiye in New York, Muhyiddin Ahmed Yazal.
Sedat Önal thanked the Turkish American Associations Federation and delegations arriving from Türkiye, as well as all organizers and supporters who have maintained this long-standing tradition.
Addressing the Turkish community, he said that he feels great joy and pride seeing the growing number and achievements of the Turkish community in the United States.
He said that he represents a Türkiye whose global influence is continuously increasing.
The Turkish Ambassador further stated that one of the main priorities of Turkish embassies and consulates in the United States is to strengthen communication and solidarity among the Turkish-origin community, and efforts will continue for this purpose.
He also called on community leaders to play an active role in this process.
Sedat Önal urged Turkish-Americans to stay in regular contact with the social media pages and websites of embassies and consulates, and also to fully support the Turkish national football team, which will be visiting the United States next month for FIFA World Cup-related activities.
