Istanbul, Türkiye (Turkiye Khabar): President of the World Ethnosport Confederation, Bilal Erdoğan, has said that the organization has started work on its next major goal, “Ethnosports 2027,” which is being presented as the Olympics of traditional sports.
Speaking during a live broadcast of Anadolu Sports Desk, Bilal Erdoğan said that sports are an important means of transferring culture from one generation to another, and despite the pressures of modernity and popular culture, people still wish to remain connected to their traditions.
He stated that the aim is not only to restore traditional sports to their former popularity, but also to create a mindset among the younger generation that connects them to their civilization, spirit, and cultural identity.
Referring to the children of Gaza, Bilal Erdoğan said that participants in the Ethnosport Cultural Festival are also reminded of those children in Gaza who are deprived of the right to play happily and peacefully with their families.
He further revealed that according to research conducted in Türkiye, nearly half of young people do not participate in any sport.
According to him, traditional sports can become an effective way to attract young people back to sports, especially those who have moved away from athletic activities or have never been part of the sporting world.
