Istanbul (Turkey News): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Turkey has achieved significant success through its strategy of eliminating terrorism at its root, both domestically and abroad, particularly after the failed 2016 coup attempt.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Security Council program at the Presidential Complex, he said that the purpose of the initiative is to promote a better understanding of the national security policy document, which outlines the threats facing the country and its foreign policy objectives.
He said that after the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016, Turkey revised its security policy and adopted a strategy aimed at eliminating threats at their source.
According to President Erdogan, under this policy, Turkey has conducted operations against terrorist organizations on multiple fronts and has also carried out cross-border operations to secure its southern borders.
He said that counterterrorism operations in the border regions of Iraq and Syria have demonstrated Turkey’s capacity for independent decision-making and marked the beginning of a new security era.
President Erdogan added that these measures are important for improving coordination between state institutions and accurately identifying new threats in order to enhance national security.
Referring to Turkey’s long state tradition, he said that the emblem of Turkey reflects 2,200 years of history through 16 states established over the centuries.
He stated that the Turkish nation has established states across vast regions from Europe to Central Asia, and from the Caucasus to Africa, and that the modern Republic of Turkey represents the latest stage of this long historical continuity.
