Progress in Turkey–North Macedonia cooperation on transport corridors and investment

Istanbul (Turkiye News): Senior officials from Turkey and North Macedonia have reviewed prospects for strategic partnership in infrastructure investment and transport corridors during a forum held in Istanbul.

The business forum was organized under Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), and was attended by high-level government representatives from both countries, including North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.

Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu said that historical relations between Turkey and North Macedonia are strengthening day by day.

He added that ongoing regional conflicts have highlighted the importance of developing alternative transport routes and corridors.

According to him, Turkey has invested $355 billion in transport and other infrastructure sectors over the past 23 years. He further stated that these projects are expected to contribute around $2 trillion to the national economy over the next decade and create more than 1.2 million jobs annually.

The Turkish minister also noted that an agreement between Turkish State Railways and the Railway Infrastructure Agency of North Macedonia will further enhance cooperation between the two countries.
