Turkey strongly opposes Israel’s law imposing death penalty on Palestinians

Istanbul (Turkiye Khabar): On Tuesday, Turkey strongly condemned a law passed by the Israeli parliament that specifically allows for the death penalty to be applied to Palestinians.

In an official statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the law is “an attempt by the occupying power Israel to further entrench its apartheid system against the Palestinian people, continuing policies that subject them to denial, destruction, and political executions, and it is illegal and null.”

The statement urged the international community, including the United Nations, to take effective action against Israel’s “racial and illegal measures.”

According to reports, the bill was approved in the Knesset’s second and third readings by 62 votes in favor, 47 against, and one member absent.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voted in favor of the law, while National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir described it as a “historic day” and welcomed the decision.
