Ankara (Turkiye News): Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has described Türkiye as a key NATO ally and a major power in the region, saying that Ottawa is actively working to further strengthen bilateral relations with Ankara.
Speaking at a press conference in Toronto, he said that Türkiye is a highly important strategic ally of NATO and plays a vital role at the regional level.
According to him, the region stretching from the Balkans to the Middle East, the Caucasus and beyond holds significant strategic importance, with Türkiye positioned as a key power within it.
Mark Carney said that Canada and Türkiye are continuing efforts to further develop their relations, adding that the process is still in its early stages but is being steadily advanced.
He confirmed that he will visit Türkiye next month to attend the NATO summit, and may also make another visit later this year.
He added that both countries are reviewing opportunities to expand cooperation in order to further strengthen bilateral ties.
