Washington (Monitoring Desk): US President Donald Trump has said that his patience regarding the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz is running out in his dealings with Iran.
According to media reports, Trump claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping had agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, although Beijing has not indicated any direct involvement in such a move.
Speaking aboard Air Force One on his return from Beijing, Trump said he is considering easing US sanctions on Chinese companies importing Iranian oil. He added that China remains the largest buyer of Iranian crude oil.
Responding to a question, the US president said he is not seeking favors from anyone, as accepting favors would require reciprocation.
It is worth noting that the United States recently suspended its attacks on Iran, although a naval blockade reportedly continues under an ongoing operation. Iran, in response, has said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain restricted until the US blockade is lifted.
Trump further warned that if Iran refuses negotiations, US patience will run out and military action could also be considered again.
