Gaza (Monitoring Desk): Israel has claimed that Hamas commander Izz al-Din al-Haddad was killed in an airstrike in Gaza City.
According to media reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a joint statement saying that al-Haddad was involved in killings, kidnappings, and injuries of Israeli forces.
Israeli authorities said a residential building in Gaza was targeted with three missiles fired from two different directions, while a vehicle was also struck before the main attack.
The strike comes despite an ongoing ceasefire in Gaza. Meanwhile, Hamas has not confirmed Israel’s claim regarding the commander’s death.
According to eyewitnesses, rescue teams arrived at the scene immediately, but faced severe difficulties in extracting the injured. Reports indicate that one body and several injured people have been recovered from the building.
