Washington (Monitoring Desk): In his first State of the Union address during a second presidential term, U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted his administration’s achievements and foreign policy successes. Trump stated that his tariff policies prevented several potential wars, including a nuclear conflict between Pakistan and India, and emphasized that many countries still seek trade relations with the United States.
He criticized the Biden administration for record-high inflation, claiming that under his government, inflation has fallen to 1.7%, while the U.S. economy continues to grow on a strong foundation. Trump also pointed to record U.S. stock market performance, increased oil and gas production, and low energy prices.
Reiterating his role in averting a Pakistan-India conflict, he claimed that his policies saved over 35 million lives. His address also covered border security, prevention of illegal immigration, promotion of legal immigration, and increased investment.
Trump expressed disappointment over a Supreme Court decision challenging presidential authority on global tariffs and announced that 15% new global tariffs would be imposed under Section 122 of trade law.
On international affairs, he stated that the U.S. prevented eight wars worldwide, thwarted Iran’s nuclear program, and prefers a diplomatic resolution to the Iran issue.
The address saw tension in the House of Representatives when Democratic Congressman Al Green was removed for protesting against the president, with Republican leader Steve Scalise and security controlling the situation.
Trump concluded by praising the military, police, and American citizens, asserting that the United States is now stronger, more successful, and safer than ever, a period he described as a “golden era” in history.
