Washington (Monitoring Desk) – U.S. President Donald Trump has called for a pardon for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his ongoing corruption cases.
In a statement, Trump said that Netanyahu is being treated unfairly and should be granted a pardon; otherwise, it would be shameful. He also criticized Israeli President Isaac Herzog, urging the Israeli public to raise their voices on the matter.
In response, President Herzog stated that Netanyahu’s pardon request is under consideration and that any decision will be made according to constitutional and legal requirements, free from external or internal pressure.
Netanyahu has been facing multiple corruption cases, an issue that has been a long-standing topic of debate in Israeli politics.
