Riyadh (Monitoring Desk) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned what it described as provocative actions by Israeli authorities in the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In its statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry urged the international community to immediately halt actions that violate international laws and global norms, and to hold Israeli authorities accountable for measures against Islamic holy sites and Palestinian civilians.
According to reports, Israeli authorities entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under police protection, while an official reportedly raised the Israeli flag in the mosque courtyard.
Media reports said the incidents occurred on the occasion of Jerusalem Day, during which Israeli far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the site along with supporters and police personnel. The visit reportedly included flag-waving and chanting.
Reports further stated that an Israeli member of parliament was also seen performing prayers within the Al-Aqsa compound.
