Islamabad (Turkey News) Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the only solution to the country’s problems lies in the supremacy of the Constitution and law, adding that poverty is continuously increasing under current conditions.
He said that there is a lack of basic facilities in major cities, including Karachi, and in some areas even drinking water is not available, while public issues are not being effectively discussed in the national and provincial assemblies. According to him, a large number of young people are moving abroad in search of a better future.
Speaking about tensions related to Iran, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan’s role should be one of reconciliation and mediation, which would be a positive step.
On the other hand, former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that inflation and the burden of taxes have made life difficult for the common man, and the poor are paying sales tax on almost everything.
He said that according to official statistics, poverty is increasing in the country and it has become difficult for ordinary citizens to meet household expenses.
According to Miftah Ismail, the tax rate on salaried individuals is high, and the government should reduce it to provide relief.
