Washington (Monitoring Desk) New details have emerged regarding possible diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
According to a report by the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal, Iran, in its response to ending the conflict, has expressed willingness to temporarily halt uranium enrichment, while rejecting Washington’s long-term conditions.
The report said that the United States had demanded that Iran refrain from uranium enrichment for 20 years, a condition which Tehran has called unacceptable.
Sources further stated that in its response, Iran has also proposed a phased ceasefire, gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the initiation of new negotiations within the next 30 days.
According to the newspaper, Iranian leadership maintains that progress in reducing regional tensions could be possible if sanctions are lifted and restrictions on maritime blockades are eased.
