Lebanon (Monitoring Desk) Despite the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes have intensified, resulting in at least 51 deaths over the past 24 hours in attacks across various regions, including two medical workers.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli strikes in the southern Lebanese areas of Qlaouiya and Tebnine directly targeted medical centers and relief teams. The ministry described the attacks as a serious violation of international law and humanitarian principles, stating that targeting medical personnel constitutes a war crime.
Reports indicate that although a ceasefire mediated by the United States has been in place for three weeks, Israeli military operations have continued. Lebanese authorities said that since March 2, a total of 2,846 people have been killed in Israeli strikes.
According to United Nations figures, at least 103 medical workers have been killed and 230 injured during this period, while more than 130 attacks on medical staff and rescue teams have been recorded.
Ali Safiuddin, head of civil defense in the southern city of Tyre, said that rescue workers are operating under constant threat and continuing emergency operations has become extremely difficult due to the loss of colleagues.
Trauma surgeon Dr. Tahir Muhammad, who has served in both Gaza and Lebanon, said that the targeting pattern of medical facilities and healthcare workers appears similar across both fronts.
