Kabul (Monitoring Desk) Afghan International has claimed that clashes are ongoing between Taliban forces and local civilians in the Argo district of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province over a dispute regarding control of resources.
According to media reports, the situation escalated when disagreements arose between the two sides over the use and control of local resources, leading to an exchange of fire.
Afghan International reported that during the clashes, at least two civilians were allegedly killed due to firing by Taliban forces, while further casualties are feared as tensions continue to rise.
The report added that in an attempt to control the situation, Taliban authorities have also suspended mobile phone services in Badakhshan.
