Baku (Turkey News) A memorial plaque has been installed in memory of Azerbaijani prisoners of war at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial site located in the Lohheide area of Lower Saxony province, Germany.
This plaque was prepared by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in German and Azerbaijani languages, and its inauguration ceremony was attended by various high-ranking officials and representatives of the Azerbaijani community.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan said that previously, during 2024 and 2025, plaques had also been installed at the Dachau and Sachsenhausen memorial sites in memory of Azerbaijani citizens.
Speakers paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Azerbaijani people during the Second World War, saying that millions of people participated in the war and a large number of them sacrificed their lives.
At the end of the ceremony, participants laid flowers at the memorial and observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to the martyrs.
