Baku (Turkiye News Desk): A significant development has been made under the efforts of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency to improve access to clean drinking water in rural areas, as a new potable water supply project has been completed and officially inaugurated in Kochveli village of the Agstafa district.
Officials, representatives of local administration, and a large number of residents attended the inauguration ceremony. According to authorities, the project aims to further enhance a modern and centralized water supply system in the region.
Under the project, the existing water supply system in the village was expanded and new pipelines were laid. A total of 3.5 kilometers of water lines were installed, connecting 296 households to the water supply network.
Additionally, water meters were installed for each consumer to ensure accurate monitoring and efficient usage of water resources. The project has now made it possible to fully meet the water needs of a population of approximately 1,349 people in the village.
Officials stated that Agstafa’s water supply system draws water from underground wells, which is then purified at a modern water treatment plant before distribution, with a daily capacity of thousands of cubic meters.
It was further noted that recent years have seen modernization and repair work in water treatment facilities, while the water supply and sewage network in the region continues to expand.
Authorities also announced that similar projects will be launched in other rural areas in the coming years to ensure uninterrupted access to clean drinking water across the region.
