Occupied Jerusalem (Monitoring Desk): Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has decided to publish the draft of the interim constitution to broaden public and social participation in the constitutional process.
According to international media, President Abbas has invited citizens, civil society organizations, political parties, analysts, and educators to submit their observations and suggestions on the draft within 60 days of its publication.
A coordination and drafting committee, established for preparing the interim constitution, will receive, organize, and review these suggestions. The observations will be categorized according to fundamental constitutional principles and organizational-technical aspects to allow for necessary amendments in the public interest and to achieve national consensus.
Based on the review, the committee will prepare a detailed report, which will be presented to the President for discussion and approval, after which the final version of the constitution will be drafted.
The decision also specifies that relevant authorities will ensure its implementation, and it will come into effect from the date of issuance and be published in the official gazette.
