Baku (Turkey News) – Leila Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Chairperson of the IDEA Public Union, visited the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, where she was warmly welcomed by the museum’s director, Amna Malikova, and artist Emil Aziz.
During the visit, Aliyeva viewed Emil Aziz’s solo exhibition, “Pattern and Salute”, featuring approximately 50 artworks inspired by the heritage of Azerbaijani carpets presented in a contemporary style. The exhibition also showcased Karabakh horses and portraits of women and will remain open until January 12.
Later, Aliyeva reviewed the exhibition “Faq Ahmad: 2011–2024”, highlighting the artist’s creative journey and his innovative approach to Azerbaijani carpet art. She also visited a dedicated exhibition of the museum’s founder, renowned artist and researcher Latif Kerimov, which displayed carpets, original sketches, and archival materials.
On the museum’s third floor, Aliyeva explored modern designer carpets and decorative and functional artworks by Azerbaijani artists such as Eldar Mekailezade, Eldar Hajiyev, Samira Allahverdiyeva, Chingiz Babayev, Tariel Bashirov, and Ali Priyab. The collection included rare ceramics, wood carvings, batik, tapestries, and art glass from the 1970s and 1980s.
