Iran Claims to Have Shot Down U.S. Drone, Tensions Escalate

Tehran (Monitoring Desk): Iran has claimed that its air defense system has destroyed a U.S. drone near the city of Isfahan.

According to Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim, air defense units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted and shot down an advanced American MQ-9 Reaper drone on Tuesday morning.

The report states that the drone was intercepted in time and destroyed, while Iranian officials said it was the 146th drone shot down during the conflict.

It is worth noting that the MQ-9 Reaper drone is used for surveillance and strike operations, and its per-unit cost is estimated at around 30 million dollars.
