Istanbul (Turkiye News) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that the world is currently undergoing rapid transformation due to technology and artificial intelligence, which has taken the form of a major industrial revolution, and it must be properly understood and managed.
Addressing the 6th Skills Summit of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development held in Istanbul, he said that major changes are taking place in employment and production sectors, where new jobs are being created while many traditional jobs are disappearing.
He said that the rapid development of robotics and artificial intelligence is bringing a major revolution in the global economy. According to him, the robotics market, currently worth around 100 billion dollars, could reach 2.5 trillion dollars by 2050, while fully automated factories are rapidly becoming common in many countries.
President Erdoğan said that this transformation is creating opportunities on one hand but also posing challenges on the other. He stressed that no country can achieve strong development by ignoring its human resources.
He said that Turkey has significantly reduced informal employment and increased the participation of women in the workforce. According to him, the government’s target is to provide employment to 3 million young people over the next three years.
President Erdoğan added that Turkey’s development vision is based on human resources, and strong cooperation between the government, private sector, universities, trade unions, and civil society is essential for this purpose.
