Helicopter Crash in Indonesia Leaves 8 Dead

Jakarta (Monitoring Desk) In a tragic incident in Jakarta, a helicopter crashed in Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province, resulting in the deaths of all eight people on board. According to officials, the Airbus helicopter, owned by a local company, lost contact with air traffic control approximately five minutes after takeoff. Director General of Civil Aviation, Lukman F. Laisa, stated that all those on board were men, including one foreign national. Rescue authorities reported that a joint emergency team located the crash site and recovered all bodies from a dense forest and mountainous area, which are now being transported to the provincial capital. Officials added that air travel is a vital means of connectivity between Indonesia’s islands; however, the country has witnessed a concerning rate of aviation accidents in the past. Reports indicate that earlier this year, all passengers were killed in a plane crash, while several lives were also lost in helicopter accidents last year.
