Headline: European Union Welcomes Efforts to Restore Rail Connectivity Between Armenia and Turkey

Brussels (Turkey News) The European Union has welcomed recent progress regarding efforts to restore rail connectivity between Armenia and Turkey.

According to the office of the EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, a joint working group meeting between the two countries was held in the northeastern Turkish city of Kars, during which progress on restoring rail links was reviewed.

The statement said that the improvement process in relations between Armenia and Turkey reflects positive trends in the region, which are essential for lasting peace and stability. The European Union has also encouraged the restoration of full diplomatic and practical relations between the two countries.

According to the European Union, if the Kars–Gyumri railway line becomes operational, it will enhance regional connectivity and provide direct economic benefits to the people of the South Caucasus.

The statement further said that the European Union is continuing its efforts to promote regional connectivity under its Global Gateway strategy and the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, in which Armenia and Turkey are considered important partners.
