Due to differences, US Navy Secretary John Fain dismissed; new interim chief appointed

Washington (Monitoring Desk) The US President has said that he has dismissed US Navy Secretary John Fain due to differences over shipbuilding matters.

According to a foreign news agency, while speaking to journalists in the Oval Office, the President said that John Fain was a hardworking and tough-minded official, however differences arose with other senior officials over the development and procurement of new warships.

According to the President, there were disagreements on certain matters, especially regarding naval ship construction and defense procurement projects. He said that such differences are normal in government and different opinions are expressed on every issue.

Reports citing informed sources said that John Fain was removed because he was not performing up to expectations in accelerating naval reforms and shipbuilding processes. However, the Defense Department did not give any clear official reason for his dismissal.

Meanwhile, Navy Undersecretary Hung Kao has been appointed as acting secretary. According to sources, his professional relations with the former minister were also not cordial.
