Condemnation of Attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque by Eight Countries Including Turkey

Istanbul (Turkiye News) – Foreign ministers of Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan have strongly condemned the continued attacks by extremist Israeli settlers on Al-Aqsa Mosque and operations carried out under the protection of Israeli forces.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers described the attacks and the incidents of raising the Israeli flag in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque as a blatant violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the historical and legal status of East Jerusalem.

The statement said that Israel, as an occupying power, is systematically attempting to alter the historical, legal, and demographic status of occupied East Jerusalem and undermine the sanctity of Muslim and Christian holy sites, which is strongly opposed.

The ministers emphasized that the 144-dunum area of Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively recognized as a place of worship for Muslims, and that the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department is the only legally authorized body responsible for its administration.

They further stated that such actions escalate tensions in the region, fuel extremism, and undermine international peace efforts, calling for an immediate halt to these illegal activities.

The foreign ministers also expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people, reaffirming their support for their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also stressed the importance of achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
