China announces support for US–Iran memorandum of understanding

Beijing (Monitoring Desk) China has announced its full support for the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, praised Iran’s diplomatic approach and said that China is ready to play a role in the proper and complete implementation of the agreement and in resolving existing challenges.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he hopes that bilateral cooperation in the energy and economic sectors will increase. He thanked China for its support during the negotiation process and said that full responsibility for implementing all provisions of the agreement lies with the United States.

According to Iranian media, both foreign ministers also agreed on support from the United Nations Security Council for the agreement. The Iranian foreign minister briefed his Chinese counterpart on the details of the agreement.
