Azerbaijan Reaffirms Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty at OIC Meeting

Baku (Turkiya News): Yalchin Rafiyev, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, participated in the emergency session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on Somalia, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting aimed to oppose attempts to recognize Somaliland as an independent state and to discuss collective measures to support Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking at the session, Rafiyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for the sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He emphasized that as an active member of the OIC Somalia Task Force, Azerbaijan will continue to support the collective efforts of the international community and OIC member states.

The Assistant Minister highlighted that Azerbaijan adheres to international law and stressed the importance of playing a responsible role in ensuring peace, stability, and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the member states adopted a unanimous resolution expressing clear and firm support for Somalia and its territorial integrity.
