Azerbaijan’s contemporary art showcased at Venice Biennale, “Attention” project attracts global interest

Venice (Turkiye News) Azerbaijan is once again participating in one of the world’s most influential art platforms, the Venice Biennale, with a strong cultural identity and modern artistic vision.

On May 7, the Azerbaijan Pavilion was officially inaugurated at the Venice Biennale through a joint organization of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy.

The pavilion is located in the historic area of Venice, inside a significant 16th-century building called “Campo della Tana,” where renowned artist Faig Ahmed is presenting his art project titled “Diqqət (Attention).” The project has been showcased as Azerbaijan’s creative representation on the global art stage, using the carpet as a central symbolic element.

The pavilion highlights not only Azerbaijan’s aesthetic artistry but also its intellectual tradition, cultural heritage, and modern technological thinking on an international level.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, said that Azerbaijan’s continuous participation in the Venice Biennale for 19 years is a major achievement of the country’s international cultural policy.

He said that this success is the result of the consistent and organized efforts of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation aimed at promoting Azerbaijan’s culture worldwide. According to him, participation in such a global platform provides a rare opportunity to present the country’s cultural heritage and contemporary art expression.
