Baku (Turkish News) President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, met with a U.S. delegation that included several key members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The delegation praised the developmental initiatives taking place in Baku and congratulated President Aliyev on the progress in the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
President Aliyev described the agreements as historic, commended the role of U.S. President Donald Trump, and stated that Azerbaijan will continue its efforts toward regional peace. He further mentioned that trade relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have already been established, with Azerbaijani oil products being exported to Armenia, while wheat from Kazakhstan and Russia is delivered to Armenia via Azerbaijan. He called the TRIPP Corridor a new opportunity for regional transport connectivity.
The meeting also covered discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and opportunities for cooperation in political, economic, energy, defense industry, education, and information technology sectors. President Aliyev highlighted the unfair nature of Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act and welcomed the U.S. President’s decision to suspend its implementation.
