Baku (Turkiye News): Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has said that the country’s economy is based on strong foundations and is moving towards new development targets.
In an exclusive interview with Public Television and the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), he discussed in detail the country’s economic situation and future policy direction.
Responding to a question, he said that Azerbaijan holds significant strategic foreign currency reserves, while its external debt remains at a very low level, which helps protect the economy from external pressure and financial shocks.
He noted that some circles view this situation as untapped development potential; however, the government’s main objective is to build a strong and sustainable economic structure.
According to the Minister, Azerbaijan aims to develop an economy that does not depend on a single natural resource such as oil and gas or any single sector, but is instead based on diverse and productive industries.
He further said that a key priority of economic policy is to create new job opportunities, as employment is the most important indicator of economic success for citizens.
He added that the country is promoting economic activities based on knowledge, skills, and modern requirements in order to ensure long-term sustainable growth.
