Azerbaijan and Czech Republic agree to enhance cooperation

Baku (Turkiye News) President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has thanked Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš for his visit to Azerbaijan, saying that constructive meetings held in Gabala will further strengthen relations between the two countries.

In a social media message, President Aliyev said it is a matter of pride that the Czech Prime Minister’s first official visit outside the European Union was to Azerbaijan. He noted that political relations between the two countries are close and that today’s discussions reaffirmed the commitment to deepen mutual cooperation.

He said that although trade volume is already at a strong level, there is significant potential to further expand economic cooperation. In this regard, the business forum held during the visit is an important step forward.

President Aliyev stated that both sides agreed to make the role of the Joint Intergovernmental Economic Commission more effective in order to improve coordination in energy, industry, and other key sectors.

He also highlighted defence industry cooperation as valuable and expressed hope for its further expansion, while thanking the Czech Prime Minister for accepting the official invitation to visit.
