After Conventional Warfare, a New “Cyber Warfare” Front Emerges in the Region

Tehran (Monitoring Desk): Following conventional conflicts, a new front of “cyber warfare” has emerged in the region, with thousands of attacks on GPS data recorded over the past 25 days. Experts report that techniques such as jamming and spoofing are being used, disrupting GPS signals to achieve military and defense objectives.

Reports indicate that similar activities were observed during recent tensions between Pakistan and India, and now unusual activity is being reported around Iran and its surrounding areas. Air and maritime operators have expressed concern, as dozens of flights and ships are reportedly deviating from their intended routes daily.

Technology experts explain that jamming generates powerful electromagnetic interference to weaken or disable GPS signals, while spoofing deceives navigation systems by providing false location data. As a result, aircraft and ships can lose their correct course, posing a serious threat to global trade and security.
