New York (Turkiye News): A report has claimed that a large proportion of civilian deaths caused by the use of explosive weapons during 2025 were allegedly linked to a specific military operation.
According to the Explosive Weapons Monitor report, around 22,600 civilians were killed in 2025 due to the use of explosive weapons. Of these, 56% of deaths were reportedly associated with military operations carried out by the Israel Defense Forces.
The report also stated that incidents involving the use of explosive weapons that disrupted humanitarian assistance activities increased by 52% during 2025.
Data shows that a major share of these incidents occurred in Palestinian territories, accounting for approximately 90% of reported cases.
The report quoted a research and monitoring manager from the organization, saying that the use of explosive weapons in densely populated areas has the most severe impact on civilian populations.
It further added that civilian harm in various global conflicts is becoming a persistent and growing trend, raising serious international concern.
