Dubai (Sports Desk): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s request to relocate T20 World Cup matches from India, declaring the proposal impractical. The decision is expected to further strain relations between the two cricket boards.
According to cricket sources, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had formally asked the ICC to shift World Cup matches to an alternative venue, citing security concerns in India. However, the ICC ruled the request as unfeasible and declined to proceed with it.
Bangladesh cricket officials have stated that they have not received any written ultimatum from the ICC, but confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had expressed apprehensions regarding security conditions in India and announced that under the prevailing circumstances, the national team would not travel to India to participate in the T20 World Cup.
Tensions between the two boards further intensified after Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders decided to drop fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the league following reported threats, adding another layer of controversy to the ongoing dispute.
