Wall Street Journal’s Claim of Israel Establishing a Secret Military Base in Iraq’s Desert

Washington (Monitoring Desk) The American newspaper Wall Street Journal has revealed in one of its reports that Israel had established a secret military base in the desert area of Iraq for aerial operations against Iran. According to the report, when Iraqi security forces, based on information, approached the suspected base, they allegedly also faced Israeli air strikes. The newspaper states that this base was established even before the possible escalation with Iran, where the presence of Israeli special forces is reported. The site was being used as a logistical center for the Israeli Air Force, while search and rescue teams were also deployed so that pilots could be rescued immediately in case of any accident. The report also states that in early March, Iraqi forces were close to reaching the area following information provided by a local shepherd, who had observed unusual helicopter movements there. However, during this time, alleged Israeli air operations were carried out to keep Iraqi personnel away from the area. Later, Iraq also filed a complaint at the United Nations regarding the incident, raising questions about the role of foreign forces, although the United States has denied any involvement in the operation. The report clarified that these claims could not be independently verified and no official response was immediately received from Israeli authorities.
