New Government in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Vijay Announces Free Electricity and Reform Measures After Swearing-In

Chennai (Monitoring Desk) Indian actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay has announced public welfare measures after taking oath as Chief Minister of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

According to foreign media, Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) succeeded in forming the government after securing a majority in the state assembly, following which he announced key decisions immediately after the swearing-in ceremony.

The new Chief Minister announced free electricity up to 200 units for domestic consumers, while also ordering the establishment of a special force for women’s safety and strict measures against drugs.

In his first speech at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, he said his government would mark the beginning of a new era of social justice and true secularism. He also thanked political parties that supported the electoral process.

Vijay also specially thanked young voters, particularly Gen Z, saying that youth played a key role in his victory. He said he does not belong to any elite or political family but comes from an ordinary background and understands the problems of the people closely. Vijay (actor)
