Washington (Monitoring Desk) The United States has imposed new sanctions against a network involved in Iran’s oil transportation, targeting multiple individuals, companies, and vessels. According to a statement issued by a subsidiary of the US Department of the Treasury, the sanctioned elements are part of a network linked to influential businessman Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, who is said to have close ties with the Iranian leadership.
The statement said that the network has been active in the transportation of Iranian oil and related activities, which led to the imposition of sanctions. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the administration will continue its actions against networks involved in illegal smuggling and support for militant groups linked to Iran.
