Uncertainty Over Next Round of Iran–US Talks, Tehran Takes Firm Stance

Tehran (Monitoring Desk) According to Iranian news agencies, Iran has not yet agreed to the next round of talks with the United States, creating uncertainty in the diplomatic process.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has made it clear that until both sides agree on a common framework, the date for the next round of negotiations cannot be set. He said Iran will not accept any exemption from international law nor will it give up its fundamental rights.

In an interview with a US television channel, Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that an extension of the ceasefire with the United States is possible, but only if talks are held on an equal footing.

He further said that Iran has agreed to the negotiation process because there is no alternative to dialogue; however, he also made it clear that Iran reserves the right to defend itself until the last bullet and the last soldier.
